I’m breaking fast this morning with nutella on crackers and water (yes, water. the coke machine is broken on our floor and i could go upstairs to get some, but i’m too lazy. i’m sure that makes me sound spoiled. which i am.)
readers, the observer is at it again. check out the below screenshot from this mornings front page:

i’m important
Vicky’s again. Really? Don’t they read KUWTB? On the other hand, they do score a point by mentioning the Charlotte game in an actual ‘frontpage’ headline and the evil triangle teams in a smaller bullet. I guess they finally got the memo that Charlotte should get the most coverage in Charlotte.
And speaking of, the gentlemen at CLTblog provided a link to the most amazing commercial for 49er football. It will get you pumped. (Congrats guys, I stalked the headlines on Friday and I believe you were the first to break the news)
The observer isn’t too excited for Charlotte football (as evidenced with this cartoon) as well as several scathing articles about the cost that appeared both pre and post “yes”(which I can’t seem to find now even when I search UNC Charlotte and Charlotte football). But this is coming from the newspaper who puts girls in their undies on page 1. I am liking the idea of “clementine” being our fight song:
oh my darlin, oh my darlin,
oh my darlin clementine,
we are the charlotte forty-niners
excavating for a mine
to the 30
to the 20
all the way to the goal line
touchdown, fortyniners
(insert last line here!) <— reader challenge – write the last line for our new football fight song (Meck can’t rhyme this morning).
Ohhh, and while we’re at it, can we please bring back old school norm? No basketball/football jerseys and creepy muscles. I miss homeless Norm!

i’m cold
And if anyone can send me the cartoon version of old norm (you know, the one where he looks like an angry little gnome) i will love you forever.
Reader challenge #2 – draw a picture of clementine! She can be Norm’s sidekick!

I thought of you when I saw the Victoria’s Secret slideshow on the Observer’s site the other day. It’s sad that they continue to dedicate part of their front page to it. It’s also sad that people probably continue to click on it.
I’m still in the unpopular minority who doesn’t want (or maybe just who doesn’t care about) football at UNCC. With my extended stay, I will likely end up paying for it, even though I (and you) will likely not be around when the program gets going. And given everything the school’s done for me (read: nothing), I find it hard to imagine I’ll be coming back for anything.
